Nora Springs, IA – A Mason City couple was hospitalized after a golf cart collided with a pickup truck at a Cerro Gordo County park in Nora Springs.

According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to Greenbelt County Park on 290th Street near the Shellrock River Greenbelt around 7:43 p.m. Friday. The crash involved a golf cart driven by Tom Faught of Mason City and an unidentified pickup truck.

Authorities said Faught sustained major injuries in the collision, while his passenger, Darlene Faught, also of Mason City, suffered a possible broken wrist. Both were transported by MercyOne in Mason City for treatment. Their conditions were not released.

The sheriff’s office reported that the driver of the pickup fled the scene before deputies arrived. The vehicle has not yet been located, and investigators are continuing to follow leads.

The Mason City Fire Department and Nora Springs Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene. The investigation remains ongoing.
