Green Bay, Wis. – A cool snap is settling over Wisconsin this weekend, bringing fall-like weather weeks ahead of schedule. Scattered showers may linger this afternoon into Sunday, especially across northern counties, while much of central and northeast Wisconsin sees a sharp drop in temperatures.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, highs will only reach the 50s and 60s for most locations through midweek, with overnight lows dipping into the low to mid-40s. Saturday highs range from 65 to 73 degrees before falling Sunday to between 56 and 67.
The shift will be most noticeable in cities like Green Bay, Appleton, and Wausau, where daytime highs will barely climb out of the 60s and evenings turn chilly. Residents in northern areas such as Crandon and Land O’ Lakes may see overnight lows in the lower 40s, raising concerns for late-summer campers and those relying on outdoor heating sources.
Travelers are urged to prepare for slick roads if showers develop, particularly across northern highways Sunday. The cooler nights are also a reminder to check furnaces and bring sensitive plants indoors.
The National Weather Service says the fall-like chill will persist into the middle of next week, with little warming expected before Wednesday.
