Tomah, WI – Snow and freezing drizzle are creating slippery travel conditions across central and west-central Wisconsin overnight into Wednesday morning, raising concerns for commuters along key highway corridors.

According to the National Weather Service in La Crosse, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m. CDT Wednesday for Adams, Clark, Juneau, Jackson, Monroe, and Taylor counties. Communities affected include Tomah, Sparta, Black River Falls, Mauston, Friendship, Neillsville, and Medford.

Light snow moved into the region overnight and will continue through the morning hours. Forecasters expect 1 to 3 inches of snow across much of central Wisconsin, while Taylor County could see 2 to 4 inches before precipitation tapers later in the day.

Periods of freezing drizzle may mix in along the Interstate 90 and Interstate 94 corridors, creating a thin glaze of ice on roads and bridges before the precipitation changes mainly to snow.

Drivers along I-90 near Tomah and I-94 near Black River Falls should expect slick pavement, reduced visibility, and slower travel during the Wednesday morning commute.

Road conditions are expected to gradually improve later Wednesday as snowfall lightens. Motorists are encouraged to slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and check Wisconsin 511 road reports before traveling.
