Green Bay, WI – A surge of Arctic air will grip Wisconsin this weekend, bringing dangerously cold wind chills and subzero temperatures, according to the National Weather Service in Green Bay.

Light snow is expected Friday, with accumulations of less than one inch, before a deep freeze sets in overnight. Daytime highs on Saturday will struggle to reach zero degrees across much of central and northern Wisconsin, while overnight lows plunge well below zero.

The NWS warns that wind chills may drop to -20° to -30° Friday night and Saturday night, creating a risk of frostbite on exposed skin within minutes. Sunday will remain cold, with highs only rebounding into the teens.

Residents are urged to dress in layers, cover exposed skin, and limit time outdoors. Pet owners should bring animals inside, and travelers should carry winter emergency kits if venturing out in rural areas.

Temperatures are expected to moderate early next week as milder air returns to the region.
