Green Bay, WI – A significant heat wave is expected to peak Monday afternoon, with temperatures soaring into the low to mid-90s across Green Bay and much of central Wisconsin. Some areas could see the heat index surpassing 100 degrees, making for dangerous conditions. A Heat Advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, impacting counties highlighted in orange on the National Weather Service’s (NWS) heat map.

According to the NWS Green Bay office, the heat index is predicted to reach the mid to upper 90s, with some locations experiencing triple-digit indices. The advisory warns of major heat-related impacts, particularly during the afternoon and early evening hours. The extreme heat and humidity are expected to persist into Tuesday, with heat indices once again climbing into dangerous territory.

Residents are urged to take precautions, including staying hydrated, avoiding strenuous outdoor activities, and checking on vulnerable individuals such as the elderly and those without air conditioning. The NWS emphasizes the importance of heat safety measures to prevent heat-related illnesses.

This heat wave follows a period of moderate temperatures but could be one of the hottest days of the summer, with conditions expected to improve later in the week.
