Green Bay, WI – Bitter cold will settle into Wisconsin tonight, bringing the coldest air of the season to much of central and northern portions of the state. According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, wind chills could drop as low as 20 to 30 degrees below zero late tonight and again Saturday night, prompting Cold Weather Advisories through the weekend.

Daytime highs on Saturday will struggle to reach zero across many central Wisconsin communities. The National Weather Service warns that wind chill values this weekend may fall low enough to produce frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 15 to 30 minutes. Residents are urged to limit time outdoors, cover exposed skin, and check on vulnerable neighbors and pets.

A brief round of light snow is expected today, with accumulations generally under one inch. Although totals are light, forecasters note that the timing may produce slippery travel on untreated roads before temperatures plummet.

The bitterly cold air will persist through Sunday morning, with subzero wind chills remaining widespread. Communities including Antigo, Rhinelander, Wausau, Stevens Point, and Green Bay will all experience prolonged periods of dangerous cold through the weekend.

The National Weather Service emphasizes that travel plans, outdoor work, and weekend activities should be adjusted to account for hazardous wind chills. Anyone needing to be outside should dress in multiple layers and minimize exposure.

Temperatures are expected to remain well below normal into early next week before a gradual moderate trend develops.
