Milwaukee, WI – Severe weather is expected to hit central Wisconsin starting Friday afternoon, bringing the potential for damaging winds, hail, heavy rain, and tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan, scattered thunderstorms will develop Friday afternoon, peaking between 3 PM and 7 PM. These storms pose a risk of damaging winds and small hail. The primary concern, however, is the heavy rainfall expected with these storms, leading to significant flooding risks throughout today and tomorrow.

Forecasters warn that several rounds of thunderstorms will continue into Saturday, with the strongest storms anticipated in the afternoon and evening. A cold front moving into the region is likely to trigger these storms, which could produce large hail and isolated tornadoes. The risk for severe weather will be highest between 2 PM and 11 PM on Saturday.

Heavy rainfall will increase the potential for flash flooding, particularly in low-lying areas and regions with poor drainage. The forecast indicates the heaviest rainfall could amount to 2.5 inches, with localized higher amounts possible.

Residents in central Wisconsin are advised to stay informed on weather updates, prepare for potential flooding, and have a safety plan in place for severe storms and possible tornadoes.
