Green Bay, Wis. – Scattered severe storms are expected to sweep across central Wisconsin from 3 to 11 p.m. Sunday, bringing threats of damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail up to an inch in diameter.
According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, the risk will follow a period of intense afternoon heat and humidity, with heat index values climbing into the upper 80s to mid-90s. A cold front moving in from the west will likely trigger isolated to scattered thunderstorms across the region by late afternoon.
Cities like Eau Claire, Wausau, and Green Bay fall within the elevated “Level 2” risk zone, where isolated severe storms could form and intensify. St. Croix Falls, La Crosse, and parts of southern Wisconsin remain under a lower-level risk but may still see strong cells. Storms may organize into clusters as they push eastward, though forecasters say there is still uncertainty on how widespread they’ll become.
Residents are urged to stay weather-aware, especially during outdoor activities. Secure loose items, avoid unnecessary travel during storm windows, and have multiple ways to receive alerts.
Severe weather warnings may be issued quickly this evening, with conditions expected to improve overnight.
