Johnstown, PA – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for much of western and northern Pennsylvania as snow showers and gusty winds continue to impact travel through Friday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in State College, snow showers will persist through 10 a.m. Thursday in Cambria and Somerset Counties, while Cameron, Elk, Potter, and Clearfield Counties remain under advisory until 4 a.m. Friday.
Forecasters report that additional snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible, with localized totals up to 5 inches in lake effect bands across the northern tier. Wind gusts up to 45 mph will create blowing snow and poor visibility, especially in open and higher elevation areas.
The hazardous mix is expected to impact both morning and evening commutes, with slick roads and sudden drops in visibility during heavier squalls. Motorists are urged to slow down, use caution, and check 511PA for the latest travel conditions.
Conditions are expected to gradually improve late Thursday night into early Friday as winds begin to ease and snow bands weaken.
