Spokane, WA – Central Washington residents should prepare for a chilly start to the week as the National Weather Service in Spokane has issued a Frost Advisory for the Moses Lake Area and Upper Columbia Basin from midnight to 9 a.m. PDT Monday.

Forecasters expect overnight lows between 32 and 35 degrees, cold enough for widespread frost formation in communities including Moses Lake, Coulee City, Ritzville, Ephrata, Quincy, Wilbur, and Othello.

The frost could damage or kill sensitive vegetation, prompting officials to urge residents to cover outdoor plants or bring them inside before temperatures drop. Lightweight fabric such as bedsheets or thin blankets can provide effective short-term protection.

This marks one of the season’s first widespread frost events across the Columbia Basin, signaling a shift toward cooler autumn weather. Temperatures are expected to rebound into the upper 50s and low 60s by Monday afternoon under mostly sunny skies.
