Richmond, VA – A Freeze Warning has been issued for portions of central Virginia from 2 a.m. until 9 a.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service in Wakefield.
The warning includes Fluvanna, Goochland, and both eastern and western Louisa counties, where temperatures are expected to dip to around 30 degrees early Friday morning.
According to meteorologists, frost and freeze conditions could kill sensitive vegetation and damage unprotected outdoor plumbing. Residents are advised to cover tender plants, drain hoses, and protect outdoor water systems before temperatures drop overnight.
This freeze marks one of the first significant cold snaps of the fall season for the Richmond metro region and surrounding rural areas. Morning commuters may also encounter areas of patchy frost on windshields and bridges.
The National Weather Service urges residents to take precautions now as the growing season is likely coming to an end for much of the region.
