Little Rock, Ark. – Arkansas remains locked in late-summer heat, with highs reaching the low to mid-90s across much of the state Saturday, but cooler conditions are on the horizon. Little Rock, Pine Bluff, and Hot Springs will top out near 92°, while Fort Smith and Texarkana climb into the mid-90s.

According to the National Weather Service in Little Rock, more comfortable conditions will begin filtering in early next week as a broad cool-down takes shape across the central U.S. Outlook maps from NOAA show a high probability of below-normal temperatures extending from late August into early September, with Arkansas falling in the core of the cooler trend.

Short-term, drivers and outdoor workers should still prepare for heat stress this weekend. Hydration and shade breaks are advised, especially in the River Valley and Delta where heat indices could push higher than forecast air temperatures.

The shift will be most noticeable by midweek, when highs are expected to dip out of the 90s for the first time in weeks, offering a taste of early fall. Additional outlooks may extend the cooler pattern into the first week of September.
