FORT WORTH, Texas – Central Texas faces another stretch of intense summer heat, with only brief chances for relief from scattered thunderstorms Friday through Sunday. Saturday is expected to bring the highest potential for rain, particularly in the Waco, Killeen, and Palestine areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, severe weather is not expected, but any storms could produce lightning and strong, gusty winds. Rain chances range from 20% Friday to as high as 40% Saturday in parts of Central Texas, before decreasing slightly Sunday.

Afternoon temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 90s each day, with heat indices ranging from 103 to 108 degrees. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

High humidity and stagnant air will keep conditions uncomfortable even outside storm periods. Motorists should use caution during any brief downpours, as slick roads and reduced visibility could develop quickly.

Heat advisories could be extended into early next week if conditions persist.
