Austin, Texas – Central Texas is expected to see a calm mid-January stretch next week, with limited chances for rain and no signal for winter weather or widespread travel disruptions from Monday through Friday.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, much of Central Texas falls within a below-normal precipitation zone during the January 12–16 period. Temperatures are forecast to run above seasonal averages at times, supporting dry conditions and mild afternoons across the region.

Cities along the I-35 corridor, including Austin, San Antonio, Round Rock, and San Marcos, may see several consecutive dry days with only isolated, low-impact rain chances. Farther west toward the Hill Country, including Fredericksburg and Kerrville, conditions are also expected to remain mostly dry. No freezing precipitation is anticipated, and roadways such as I-35, U.S. 290, and Loop 1 are not expected to experience weather-related travel issues.

The Texas Department of Transportation typically reminds drivers that cooler overnight temperatures can still lead to patchy fog in river valleys during early morning hours, though widespread visibility issues are not expected.

The quiet pattern looks likely to persist through much of the workweek, with any rain chances remaining brief and isolated. Overall, weather-related disruptions across Central Texas appear unlikely through Friday.
