Austin, Texas – Drivers north of Interstate 10 could hit pockets of heavy rain within the next few hours as showers and isolated storms move across Central Texas during the morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, rain chances are highest early today, especially from Georgetown to Austin and into the Hill Country, where probabilities range from 60% to 74%. Conditions turn drier by the afternoon, but breezy southeast winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts near 25 mph will continue, pushing temperatures into the upper 80s and lower 90s.

Across the region, including San Marcos, New Braunfels, and La Grange, roads may remain slick through mid-morning before improving later in the day. Farther west toward Del Rio and Eagle Pass, rain chances drop off significantly, with only isolated activity expected.

The pattern shifts again heading into Easter weekend. Rain and storm chances surge Saturday into Sunday, with some areas seeing up to a 95% chance of rainfall. Temperatures will drop sharply, with highs falling into the upper 60s to near 70 degrees by Easter Sunday, a noticeable cooldown from Friday’s near 90-degree heat.

Residents should plan for changing conditions, keep devices charged, and monitor alerts as stronger storms and locally heavy rainfall become more likely this weekend.
