Austin, TX – A weak cold front is set to bring scattered showers, storms, and slightly cooler temperatures to Central and South Texas on Wednesday, September 24.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Austin/San Antonio, storms are expected to develop Wednesday morning across the Hill Country and Austin metro, then shift south into the Rio Grande, San Antonio metro, and Coastal Plains by the afternoon and evening. Some storms could produce damaging winds and locally heavy rainfall.
Forecasters noted there is a Level 1 out of 5 risk for isolated severe storms, meaning most storms will remain below severe thresholds, but a few could intensify. Rain chances are highest in Cuero, Del Rio, Eagle Pass, Gonzales, and San Antonio, where probabilities reach 65–75%.
Highs on Wednesday will range from the mid-80s in Fredericksburg to the upper 90s in Cuero and Gonzales. Behind the front, cooler air will settle in with lows dipping into the 60s and highs returning closer to seasonal averages by Thursday through early next week.
NWS officials remind residents with outdoor plans to stay weather-aware and have multiple ways to receive alerts.
