Austin, Texas – Isolated storms and early morning downpours could impact drivers across South-Central Texas Wednesday as a weak cold front moves through the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected around the morning commute, especially along the I-35 corridor near San Antonio, New Braunfels, and Gonzales. Storm activity should taper off by midday, giving way to mostly sunny skies and dry conditions by afternoon.

High temperatures will climb into the upper 90s across much of the area, including San Marcos (98°F), Austin (97°F), and Del Rio (99°F), with humidity making it feel even hotter. Despite the brief rain chance, no major impacts are expected beyond slick roads and brief lightning risks in storm-prone areas.

The rest of the week looks dry and increasingly hot, with minimal impacts projected from Thursday through Sunday. Daily highs will remain in the mid-to-upper 90s, with overnight lows only dipping into the mid-70s. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat.

No additional weather alerts have been issued, but updates are possible if storm development intensifies Wednesday morning.
