Austin, Texas – Isolated afternoon thunderstorms are expected to impact Austin, San Antonio, and the I-35 corridor through Tuesday night, bringing brief downpours and pockets of heavy rainfall that could slow commutes and prompt minor street flooding in some neighborhoods.

According to the National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio, rain chances peak at 30% in Austin and San Antonio today, with up to 55% in Cuero and 50% in La Grange. Scattered showers will mainly affect the Coastal Plains, Hill Country, and cities like New Braunfels, Georgetown, and Gonzales. While severe weather is not likely, isolated heavy rainfall could create hazardous driving on major roads and low-lying crossings.

Residents in Fredericksburg, Kerrville, and Rocksprings may see isolated storms, with temperatures in the upper 80s to mid 90s. Drier and significantly warmer conditions are expected starting Wednesday, as rain chances quickly drop below 15% for the rest of the week. Highs are forecast to climb into the mid to upper 90s by Thursday through the weekend, raising heat safety concerns.

Drivers should remain cautious on wet roads today and avoid flooded areas. Keep devices charged and review local emergency alerts. This brief rain reprieve gives way to a return of summer heat—expect updates if additional advisories are issued.
