San Antonio, Texas – Sweltering heat is set to dominate Central and South Texas through the weekend, with temperatures peaking near or above 100°F in San Antonio, Austin, and surrounding areas.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio, cloudier skies may drift in today as tropical moisture filters in from the east. While isolated showers could develop over the Coastal Plains—including areas like La Grange and Cuero—most inland cities will stay dry. Highs will reach 101°F in San Antonio and 100°F in Austin, with heat indices even higher during peak afternoon hours.

Inland counties like Bexar, Travis, and Guadalupe will continue to experience dry air and typical July heat. Rain chances drop to nearly 0% for most cities by Sunday and Monday. Only eastern fringe locations may see a 15–20% shot at a stray shower.

Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity, stay hydrated, and avoid peak heat from 2 to 6 p.m. Drivers should ensure vehicles are not left unattended with children or pets, as cabin temperatures can soar quickly.

Hot and mostly dry conditions are expected to last into early next week, with another heat surge possible by midweek.
