Corsicana, Texas – Drivers in Navarro and Ellis counties should avoid flooded roads this morning as flash flooding rapidly worsens across parts of north central and central Texas.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, a Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 10:15 a.m. Wednesday for northwestern Henderson, southeastern Ellis, and northern Navarro counties. Radar has detected between 2 and 3.5 inches of rainfall already, with another 1 to 2 inches expected over the next few hours.

Flooding is impacting cities including Corsicana, Ennis, Gun Barrel City, and smaller communities such as Kerens, Tool, Payne Springs, and Trinidad. Low-lying areas, underpasses, and poorly drained roads—especially near Bardwell Lake and Cedar Creek Reservoir—are particularly dangerous this morning.

Travel is discouraged throughout the region, with authorities reminding residents to never drive through water-covered roadways. Most flood-related deaths occur in vehicles.

Rainfall is expected to ease later this morning, but standing water and blocked drainage may cause lingering impacts. Additional flood advisories could be issued if storms redevelop.
