Burlington, VT – The National Weather Service in Burlington has issued a Winter Storm Watch for central and southern Vermont, warning of heavy snow exceeding 7 inches from Tuesday morning through late Tuesday night.
Forecasters say bands of intense snowfall may develop during the day Tuesday, producing snowfall rates over one inch per hour at times. The storm could lead to very difficult travel conditions, especially during the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.
The alert covers Orange, Rutland, Addison, and Windsor Counties, including cities such as Rutland, White River Junction, Killington, Bethel, Ludlow, and Springfield. Roads are expected to become slick and snow-covered, with visibility reduced during the heaviest snow bands.
Residents are urged to monitor forecast updates and prepare for hazardous travel, as conditions may deteriorate quickly once snow begins. The combination of cold temperatures and steady accumulation could also lead to icy surfaces on sidewalks and driveways.
The Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Tuesday morning through late Tuesday night, with forecasters continuing to track storm intensity and potential snowfall totals.
