Colorado Springs, CO – A broad stretch of central and southern Colorado is under a Winter Weather Advisory through tonight as multiple elevation zones continue picking up moderate snowfall, creating slick and hazardous travel, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Pueblo.

Snow has been steady across the region throughout the day Wednesday, with additional accumulations of 3 to 10 inches expected depending on elevation. Higher totals are anticipated above 8,500 to 11,000 feet, including the Eastern Sawatch Range, the La Garita Mountains, the Rampart Range, and areas near Pikes Peak. Lower elevations—including Pueblo County, Canon City, Buena Vista, Colorado Springs, and Trinidad—are expected to receive 2 to 8 inches through the evening.

The heaviest snowfall is expected from late morning into the afternoon, with widespread impacts to the Wednesday evening commute. According to the NWS, roads, bridges, and overpasses will quickly become slick as temperatures fall, and visibility may be reduced at times due to steady snowfall.

Travel will be especially difficult across Fremont County, western Chaffee County, and high-elevation passes such as North Pass. Snow-covered surfaces are also expected across the Southern San Luis Valley, where totals of 2 to 6 inches are forecast.

Several advisories extend into early Thursday morning—particularly for the La Garita Mountains, Southern San Luis Valley, and Las Animas County—where lingering snow is expected after midnight.

Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra travel time, and monitor updated road conditions via Colorado’s 511 system. Residents should also use caution on sidewalks, driveways, and stairs due to icy and slippery conditions.
