Los Angeles, California – A shift toward milder, more seasonable temperatures will take hold across central and southern California by Thursday, with increasing rain chances becoming the bigger concern through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service and NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center, the region is expected to see near-normal temperatures from April 16 through April 20, alongside a 40 to 50 percent chance of above-normal precipitation. A series of Pacific systems will move inland, bringing more clouds and periodic rain.

In Los Angeles and across Los Angeles, Ventura, and Orange counties, highs are expected to range from 68 to 75°F during the afternoon, with overnight lows in the low to mid-50s. Along the I-5 corridor, including Bakersfield and the Central Valley, temperatures will remain in the low to mid-70s with increasing cloud cover.

San Diego and coastal areas will see highs in the upper 60s to low 70s, with occasional light rain and marine layer influence. Inland areas such as Riverside and San Bernardino may reach the mid-70s, though showers could develop, especially later in the period.

The precipitation outlook signals a 40 to 50 percent chance of above-normal rainfall, with multiple rounds of showers expected between April 18 and April 22. In higher elevations, including the Tehachapi and San Bernardino Mountains, snow is possible during overnight hours.

Residents should prepare for changing conditions, including wet roads and reduced visibility during showers. Drivers along I-5, Highway 101, and I-10 should allow extra travel time during periods of rain.

This more active pattern is expected to continue through April 20, with additional systems possible into early next week.
