COLUMBIA, S.C. – A crisp and calm fall night is setting up across central South Carolina as temperatures dip into the 40s under mostly clear skies. The National Weather Service in Columbia said the clear conditions will provide an excellent view of tonight’s full moon while allowing the region to cool efficiently overnight.
According to the NWS Columbia office, low temperatures will range from 45 to 49 degrees across much of the Midlands, with slightly cooler readings possible in rural valleys north of I-20. The dry air and light winds will keep conditions calm through dawn, making for a classic November chill.
Residents heading out for evening activities should plan on a jacket, especially after sunset when temperatures will quickly fall into the 50s. Skies will remain clear through the night, enhancing visibility for moon watchers and stargazers. Forecasters say this calm weather pattern will persist into Thursday, with daytime highs rebounding into the upper 60s and lower 70s under abundant sunshine.
Drivers should also watch for brief patches of light fog in low-lying areas early Thursday morning, but no travel impacts are expected.
