Hanford, CA – A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect for much of the central Sierra Nevada, including Yosemite National Park, Sequoia National Park, and Kings Canyon, beginning Monday morning through Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Hanford.

Forecasters warn that snow levels will range from 6,500 to 7,000 feet, with heavy snow possible above those elevations. Total accumulations could reach 12 to 24 inches, creating slick and hazardous road conditions across mountain routes, bridges, and overpasses.

The storm is expected to impact the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes, with travel possibly becoming very difficult to impossible in higher elevations. Areas near Huntington Lake, Grant Grove, Tuolumne Meadows, and Shaver Lake are expected to see the heaviest snow.

The weather service urges residents and visitors to delay travel if possible, winterize vehicles, and allow extra time if driving through mountain areas. Motorists should be prepared for sudden changes in visibility and traction as the storm intensifies through midweek.
