Central, South Carolina — A Central man was arrested Monday after deputies used a K-9 during an attempt to serve felony warrants at an apartment complex, according to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and officers with the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services went to an apartment at 205 Tliwa Court on Monday to serve two active warrants for Christopher Dylan Patterson. The warrants were for felon in possession of a firearm and a probation violation.
Investigators said deputies believed Patterson was inside the residence, but he allegedly refused to come to the door. Deputies attempted to call him out of the apartment, but he did not comply with commands.
Because Patterson was reportedly known to carry firearms, a law enforcement K-9 officer was deployed during the arrest, officials said.
Patterson was taken into custody with what authorities described as minor injuries. He was transported to a hospital for treatment and later released from medical care.
After being medically cleared, Patterson was taken to the Pickens County Detention Center for processing, according to the sheriff’s office. Deputies said he also faces an additional charge of resisting arrest related to the incident.
Authorities emphasized that all charges remain allegations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
The arrest occurred in a residential area near Clemson University, a location that includes student housing and housing for young workers, making law enforcement activity in the area particularly visible to nearby residents and commuters.
The case remains under the jurisdiction of the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office.
