Kansas City, MO – A significant storm system this weekend threatens flash flooding across the Central Plains. NOAA’s Weather Prediction Center has issued a moderate risk alert, warning of heavy rainfall and potential flooding from Saturday through Sunday.

According to NOAA, a slow-moving front will bring sustained heavy rain to the region, with storms forecasted to release several inches of rainfall. Conditions are expected to worsen Saturday, as repeated rounds of thunderstorms and rainfall heighten the flood potential.

NOAA warns that areas with prolonged rain or training thunderstorms face the highest flood risk. As a cold front moves in on Sunday, another wave of storms could bring further rainfall to already saturated areas. Residents in high-risk areas are urged to stay informed and prepare for possible flash flooding.

Emergency services advise monitoring local forecasts and avoiding flood-prone roads.
