State College, PA – The National Weather Service in State College has continued a Wind Advisory from 8 a.m. to midnight Friday, warning of west winds between 15 and 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected across much of central and southern Pennsylvania.
According to the NWS, gusty conditions will begin late Friday morning and persist into the evening, impacting areas including Harrisburg, State College, Altoona, York, Lancaster, and Johnstown.
The strongest winds will occur during the afternoon and early evening hours, with forecasters cautioning that gusts could knock down small tree limbs and cause isolated power outages. Residents are urged to secure outdoor decorations, lawn furniture, and Halloween displays ahead of the wind event.
Counties under the advisory include Centre, Blair, Dauphin, Franklin, York, Lancaster, Perry, and Lebanon, among others spanning the state’s central corridor.
High-profile vehicles should use extra caution on open stretches of highway, as crosswinds may make driving difficult. Winds are expected to gradually diminish late Friday night.
