Pennsylvania – A damp chill hangs in the air this morning as light snow begins to coat cars and fields across central Pennsylvania. Roads glisten under headlights, and winds cut across bridges near State College as early winter weather takes hold.
According to the National Weather Service in State College, a Hazardous Weather Outlook is in effect today for much of central and southern Pennsylvania. Light morning snow is expected to shift to a wintry mix or plain rain later in the day, with temperatures hovering near 34°F. Drivers along Route 322 and I-99 should expect slick bridges and patchy black ice as melted snow refreezes by dusk.
The next system arrives Monday night into Tuesday, bringing the potential for 1 to 3 inches of snow and a thin glaze of ice. Meteorologists warn that even minor accumulations could create dangerous travel conditions during the Monday evening commute, particularly in higher elevations west and north of the city.
Temperatures remain near the freezing mark through midweek, keeping sidewalks and parking lots slippery each morning. Residents are urged to keep windshield wipers up and salt on hand as early December’s “winter tease” settles in.
Five-Day Outlook (State College area):
- Monday: Partly sunny, high 36°, clouds building late.
- Monday Night: Snow likely, 1–3″ possible, low 24°.
- Tuesday: Snow tapering early, high 36°, low 21°.
- Wednesday: Mostly sunny, high 35°, low 23°.
- Thursday: Sunny, high 31°, low 13°, colder trend begins.
Early December is showing its teeth. Drive cautiously, and share what road conditions look like in your area today.
