Bend, Ore. – Dangerous fire weather will continue across Central Oregon through Monday night, as hot, dry, and unstable conditions create a high risk for fast-moving wildfires. The National Weather Service has extended a Red Flag Warning until 9 p.m. Monday for the Central Mountains of Oregon and the Northern Deschutes National Forest.
According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, mixing heights will reach up to 11,500 feet on Monday, with relative humidity levels dropping as low as 15 percent. The unstable atmosphere increases the likelihood of plume-dominated fire growth, especially in areas already impacted by the Flat Fire. Overnight recovery will remain poor, meaning fuels will stay dangerously dry into Monday morning.
The warning covers areas near Bend, Sisters, and Santiam Pass, where any spark could quickly escalate into a large wildfire. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged, and officials urge residents and visitors to avoid activities that could cause sparks, including campfires and use of equipment without proper spark arrestors.
Fire crews are on high alert, and residents are advised to prepare for potential evacuation orders if new fires emerge. The Red Flag Warning remains in effect until Monday evening, with additional alerts possible if dry, unstable weather persists into the week.
