OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Central Oklahoma is in for a brief taste of unsettled fall weather before sunshine dominates the weekend. Thursday and Friday bring unseasonably warm conditions, followed by a chance of late-day showers and thunderstorms that could briefly impact evening plans and travel.

According to the National Weather Service in Norman, highs will climb to the mid-80s through Friday afternoon, with strong southerly winds gusting up to 20 mph. A cold front will approach late Friday, sparking a 20 to 30 percent chance of thunderstorms—especially along I-35 and I-40 corridors, where quick downpours and gusty winds could affect commuters.

Saturday brings a return to calm, classic October weather. Expect mostly sunny skies and a high near 86°F, perfect for tailgates, pumpkin patch visits, or outdoor festivals across the metro. Cooler air filters in Sunday, dropping highs into the lower 70s as dry, fall air settles over the Plains. Morning lows through the weekend will range from the upper 40s to mid-50s, offering crisp starts to bright, breezy days.

Looking ahead, the dry trend continues early next week with abundant sunshine and highs returning to the mid-80s by Monday. If you’re planning fall yardwork, road trips, or outdoor decorating, this weekend offers the best stretch of mild weather Oklahoma City has seen in weeks.
