OKLAHOMA – A quick-hitting round of showers and thunderstorms could dampen Friday evening plans across Central Oklahoma before sunshine and cooler air move in for Sunday.

The National Weather Service in Norman reports a 50% chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms late Friday into early Saturday, mainly along and east of I-40. Winds may gust near 25 mph, and while severe storms aren’t expected, brief downpours could make for slick travel conditions through Oklahoma City and Moore.

Outdoor plans late Friday should include a rain backup, especially for football games or fall festivals. Motorists on I-35 and I-40 should drive with caution if encountering heavier rain or lightning. The system will exit quickly, setting up a dry and pleasant weekend finish.

Saturday will bring a mix of sun and clouds, with highs near 84°F before cooling to the low 50s at night. Sunday turns crisp and clear, with comfortable highs around 72°F and low humidity—perfect for pumpkin patches, tailgates, or a trip to Lake Thunderbird.

The warm weather returns briefly Monday, with highs near 87°F, before temperatures moderate again by midweek. Fall colors are beginning to show across northern Oklahoma, making early next week ideal for scenic drives and leaf viewing.

Friday may bring thunder, but by Sunday, Oklahoma’s fall weather shines again.
