COLUMBUS, Ohio – A thick blanket of fog has settled across much of central and southern Ohio this morning, cutting visibility to near zero in places and slowing early travel. The same calm air trapping that fog will soon give way to a sharp change—rain developing Sunday, then snow likely by Monday morning as a winter-like chill pushes into the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. today for a broad area stretching from Columbus and Dayton south toward Cincinnati and Wilmington. Visibility may drop below a quarter mile in some rural valleys. Drivers on I-70, I-71, and U.S. 33 should allow extra time, use low-beam headlights, and leave extra space between vehicles.

Conditions will clear through midday as light south winds increase, with highs near 58 degrees before another system approaches Sunday. That next front brings steady rain Sunday afternoon, changing to a rain-snow mix after sunset and all snow before dawn Monday. Temperatures will tumble from the 40s into the 20s, and slick spots could develop for the Monday morning commute.

Snow chances linger into Veterans Day, though most accumulations should remain under an inch. Highs Monday stay in the 30s, with a biting northwest breeze making it feel closer to the teens at times. The cold pattern holds through midweek—a clear sign that the winter transition has begun across the Buckeye State.
