Wilmington, OH – The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Wilmington is warning residents across southwest and central Ohio to prepare for light snow during the Thursday morning commute, which could lead to slick spots and minor travel delays.

According to the NWS update issued early Wednesday, a narrow band of snow may form overnight and persist through the morning hours. While accumulations are expected to remain light—generally less than an inch—forecasters caution that even small amounts could create travel difficulties on untreated roads.

Forecast maps show a 40–65% chance of at least 0.1 inches of snow across much of the region, with the highest probabilities centered near Wilmington, Chillicothe, and Logan, and extending west toward Dayton and Cincinnati. Lighter chances are noted north toward Columbus and Marion.

Meteorologists advise commuters to allow extra time for travel Thursday morning, as road conditions could vary widely depending on where the snow bands set up. Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing during the morning rush, increasing the risk of icy patches, especially on bridges and secondary roads.

By midday Thursday, the system should move east, bringing gradual improvement through the afternoon. However, the NWS notes that the timing of snow bands could still impact early school and work travel across the region.

Residents in Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati, Wilmington, and surrounding areas are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts and local traffic advisories.
