Binghamton, NY – A Wind Advisory remains in effect for large portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania as strong westerly winds continue to move through the region Friday evening into early Saturday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, the advisory extends until 5 AM EDT Saturday, November 1, with sustained winds of 15 to 25 mph and gusts up to 50 mph. Impacted areas include Onondaga, Oneida, Broome, Delaware, Tioga, Chenango, Steuben, and Tompkins counties in New York, along with Bradford, Susquehanna, Lackawanna, and Luzerne counties in Pennsylvania.
Forecasters warn that gusty winds could knock down tree limbs, leading to scattered power outages, and make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles on open highways. Residents should secure outdoor items such as decorations, trash bins, or patio furniture before winds peak overnight.
The strongest gusts are expected late Friday evening into the early morning hours Saturday, gradually diminishing after sunrise.
