Binghamton, NY – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Binghamton has issued a Wind Advisory for central New York and northeast Pennsylvania, in effect from 11 a.m. Friday to 5 a.m. EDT Saturday.

According to the NWS, west winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected across a wide area including Binghamton, Syracuse, Utica, Elmira, Ithaca, Scranton, and Wilkes-Barre.

Forecasters warn that the strong gusts could blow down tree limbs and cause scattered power outages. Residents are urged to secure outdoor decorations, trash bins, and lightweight furniture, especially with lingering Halloween displays still in place.

The winds are expected to increase through Friday afternoon, peaking during the evening before gradually diminishing early Saturday. Drivers—particularly those operating high-profile vehicles—should use extra caution on open highways and elevated routes.
