Carrington, ND – Drivers across central North Dakota should expect slick roads and reduced visibility through early Sunday as a band of moderate snow moves through the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Bismarck, snowfall began late Saturday night and is expected to continue into the early morning hours of Sunday, March 23. Areas including McHenry, Pierce, Sheridan, Wells, and Foster counties are seeing snowfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches, with impacts most noticeable along Highway 2 between Minot and Rugby, as well as Highways 3 and 52.

Officials urge motorists to use caution when traveling overnight and during early commutes, particularly near towns such as Carrington, Harvey, Fessenden, and Velva. Snow is expected to cover roadways quickly, leading to potentially hazardous driving conditions.

Travelers are encouraged to check road conditions before heading out by visiting North Dakota DOT’s website or calling 511 for updates.

This late-March snowfall is not uncommon for the region, but visibility reductions and slick pavement may still catch drivers off guard. Keep headlights on, reduce speed, and allow extra time for travel through Sunday morning.
