Raleigh, North Carolina – A brisk start to the holiday weekend is in store across central North Carolina as cooler-than-normal temperatures and breezy conditions settle in through Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Raleigh, daytime highs will hover 5 to 10 degrees below average Friday, ranging from the low 70s in the north to around 80°F farther south. Tonight, lows are expected to fall sharply—between 7 and 12 degrees below normal—dropping into the mid-40s across the Triad and low 50s toward Fayetteville and Clinton.

Saturday will stay dry, with highs between 72–82°F and clear, cool evening conditions. However, Sunday could bring scattered thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening, with overnight lows climbing slightly into the upper 50s and low 60s.

Residents should prepare for continued breezy conditions, particularly in open and elevated areas. Light jackets may be needed for evening plans, and outdoor event organizers should monitor for Sunday’s storm potential. Those traveling should stay alert for wet roads on Sunday and Monday.

Temperatures will remain below average into Memorial Day, with more rain possible Monday night. Updates will continue as the weekend progresses.
