Raleigh, NC – The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a Frost Advisory for much of central North Carolina, including the Triad, Triangle, and Sandhills regions, from 3 a.m. until 9 a.m. Friday.
Forecasters say temperatures in the lower to mid-30s will result in widespread frost formation across Forsyth, Guilford, Alamance, Orange, Durham, Wake, Moore, and Lee counties, as well as parts of the northern Coastal Plain and Piedmont.
According to meteorologist 26, frost could harm or kill sensitive outdoor vegetation if left uncovered. Residents are advised to cover garden plants, bring potted vegetation indoors, and protect outdoor pipes ahead of the cold morning.
The NWS notes that urban centers such as Raleigh and Greensboro may see only patchy frost due to slightly warmer overnight lows in the upper 30s, while rural areas could experience a more widespread freeze.
Friday’s frost marks one of the first significant cold mornings of the season for central North Carolina, signaling the end of the growing season for many parts of the state.
