Bismarck, North Dakota – Residents across south-central North Dakota and north-central South Dakota face a dangerous evening as a Tornado Watch remains in effect until 10 PM Tuesday, with the risk of tornadoes, giant hail, and damaging winds surging across the region. Power outages and hazardous travel are possible as fast-moving storms threaten communities including Bismarck, Pierre, Aberdeen, and Mobridge.

According to the National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center, tornadoes are possible through late Tuesday night, along with scattered hail up to two inches in diameter and wind gusts topping 70 mph. Counties impacted in North Dakota include Burleigh, Emmons, Kidder, and Morton, while Brown, Dewey, Hughes, and Stanley are among those affected in South Dakota.

Emergency officials are urging drivers to avoid non-essential travel, keep devices charged, and seek sturdy shelter if warnings are issued. Large hail could damage vehicles and roofs, and sudden power outages are likely as winds ramp up across open highways like US-83 and US-12.

Communities from Jamestown to Faith should expect rapidly changing conditions. School and outdoor activities could be delayed or canceled if warnings are issued. The Tornado Watch remains active until 10 PM, with additional advisories possible as storms track eastward.
