Binghamton, NY – February kicks off with winter weather concerns in central New York as freezing rain and snow showers impact travel. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 p.m. Friday, with freezing rain creating slick roads and hazardous conditions. Drivers should exercise caution, especially during the Friday morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service, Friday will bring a mix of freezing rain and rain before transitioning to snow showers overnight. Lows will drop to 17°F, with little or no accumulation expected. Saturday looks clearer, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 21°F.

Sunday could see more snow showers, particularly in the afternoon, with a 40% chance of precipitation. Temperatures will rise slightly, with a high of 34°F, but roads may become slick again overnight as lows dip to 31°F.

Looking ahead, Monday will be mild, reaching 48°F under mostly cloudy skies before temperatures drop back to 25°F Monday night.
