Binghamton, NY – Skies will be slow to clear across central New York today before a chilly pattern settles in later this week, according to the National Weather Service in Binghamton.
Forecasters say clouds will gradually break through the afternoon, with highs on Tuesday (Oct. 14) reaching the low to mid-60s. Areas such as Ithaca, Binghamton, and Oneonta will see improving sunshine by evening.
Attention then turns to Thursday night into Friday morning (Oct. 16–17), when temperatures are expected to dip into the 20s and low 30s, leading to frost formation across much of the region — especially in the Finger Lakes and Wyoming Valley.
The NWS notes that the growing season continues in some areas, so gardeners and farmers should take precautions to protect sensitive crops and plants from potential frost damage.
Daytime highs will stay in the 50s to low 60s through the end of the week, with chilly but calm nights ahead under mostly clear skies.
