Binghamton, New York – After a stormy Tuesday, much calmer weather is settling across central New York and northeast Pennsylvania today, bringing cooler temperatures, breezy conditions and several days of mainly dry weather before showers and thunderstorms return later this weekend.
According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, highs today will reach only the upper 60s to mid-70s across central New York and the lower 70s to near 80 degrees in northeast Pennsylvania. While most communities will remain dry, an isolated lake-enhanced shower is possible along the New York Thruway corridor and Interstate 90.
Communities including Binghamton, Syracuse, Ithaca, Cortland, Elmira, Oneonta and Scranton can expect partly to mostly sunny skies for much of the day. Thursday begins with areas of patchy morning fog before sunshine returns and afternoon temperatures climb into the 70s. Friday stays mostly sunny with highs warming into the upper 70s to mid-80s, signaling the beginning of a gradual warming trend.
By Sunday, moisture increases enough to support scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms, with highs remaining in the lower to middle 80s. While widespread severe weather is not indicated at this time, anyone with outdoor plans should monitor forecast updates as the weekend progresses.
