Binghamton, NY – The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Binghamton released preliminary snowfall totals Tuesday evening showing widespread accumulations across Central and Southern New York, with the highest amounts reaching up to 10 inches in portions of Sullivan County.
According to the NWS, snowfall reports were collected between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from regional observers and cooperative weather stations. Most areas across the Southern Tier and Central New York reported between 4 and 7 inches of snow, while localized heavier bands pushed totals higher along the Catskills and parts of the Delaware River Valley.
Early maps show Binghamton, Ithaca, and Syracuse each receiving between 5 and 6 inches, while Delhi and Monticello reported totals between 8 and 10 inches. Surrounding counties — including Broome, Cortland, Chenango, Tompkins, and Tioga — generally saw between 4 and 6 inches by Tuesday evening.
NWS meteorologists note that the data remains preliminary and additional reports from Co-Op observers are expected Wednesday morning to refine totals. The service also released a second version of its map without town labels to better visualize accumulation around the Binghamton and Scranton areas.
Drivers across the Southern Tier and Catskills are advised to watch for slick secondary roads and reduced visibility during the Wednesday morning commute, especially where plowing and salting operations continue overnight.
Snow showers may linger into Wednesday morning before drier air arrives behind the system.
