HASTINGS, Neb. – After a cool, damp start to the week, brighter and warmer weather is on the horizon for south-central Nebraska. Light rain and patchy fog will taper off by Tuesday evening, making way for a stretch of sunny, mild days midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, overnight and early Tuesday showers will keep skies cloudy with highs near 65°F. A few areas of fog may form overnight as light winds and lingering moisture settle over the Plains.

By Wednesday, skies begin to clear with highs reaching around 80°F — a noticeable warm-up after the gray start. Light southerly winds will bring in milder air, and conditions remain dry through Thursday afternoon.

The end of the week looks pleasant and seasonable, with highs in the low to mid-70s and plenty of sunshine. A slight chance of showers may return Thursday night, but no significant rainfall is expected.

Residents can expect ideal fall weather heading into the weekend — comfortable days, cool nights, and clear skies for harvest work, travel, and outdoor events.
