Hastings, NE – Residents across central Nebraska should prepare for an active weather pattern this week, with thunderstorms expected to build through Monday evening and continue into Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service in Hastings.

Forecasters say Sunday will bring scattered showers and weak thunderstorms through midday before skies begin to clear, with highs near 80 degrees.

According to the NWS, Monday will be warm and mostly dry during the day, with highs in the mid-80s. However, strong to potentially severe thunderstorms could develop by evening and overnight. The storms may bring damaging winds, heavy rainfall, and frequent lightning.

Rain and thunderstorms are expected to linger into Tuesday, with temperatures dropping into the upper 60s and low 70s. Conditions should gradually improve by Wednesday, with morning showers giving way to drier weather by the afternoon.

Officials remind residents to monitor forecasts and be prepared for possible severe weather alerts.
