Grand Island, Nebraska – Residents across central Nebraska can expect continued winter cold late next week, though current signals point to only a limited chance for snow, with no strong indication of a widespread or disruptive winter storm.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, central Nebraska remains under a colder-than-normal pattern from Saturday through the following Friday. While temperatures are expected to stay low, available moisture and storm organization appear limited, keeping snowfall chances on the lower end.

Along the Interstate 80 corridor, including Grand Island and Kearney, occasional light snow or flurries are possible, mainly during overnight or early morning hours. Any accumulation looks minimal, though brief slick spots could develop on bridges and untreated roadways during colder periods.

Farther south and east, including Hastings and surrounding counties, conditions favor dry cold much of the time. If snow does occur, it would likely be light and short-lived, with limited impact to travel. Open terrain across the Platte River Valley could allow patchy blowing snow if light snowfall coincides with gusty winds.

The Nebraska Department of Transportation advises drivers to remain cautious during early morning travel, as cold pavement can quickly turn icy even with light snow. While significant winter weather is not expected at this time, updates may follow if storm tracks or moisture increase later next week.
