Hastings, NE – A sharp blast of cold air and gusty winds will sweep across central and northeast Nebraska this weekend, bringing the season’s coldest temperatures so far, according to the National Weather Service in Hastings.

A few light showers may develop tonight, mainly across northeastern portions of the state. Late Saturday night, a few flurries are possible north of I-80 as much colder air moves in behind a passing cold front.

Saturday will feature highs in the low 50s to around 60 degrees but will turn windy by afternoon, with gusts up to 45 mph expected. Temperatures will tumble overnight into the teens and 20s, with wind chills dropping into the single digits by Sunday morning.

Sunday will be cold and sunny with highs in the upper 30s to low 40s. Monday morning will start cold again before a gradual warm-up returns to the mid-50s by afternoon.

Residents should prepare for blustery, winter-like conditions and use caution if traveling Saturday night and early Sunday due to reduced visibility in any flurries and biting cold winds.
