Hastings, NE – Central Nebraska will enjoy a mild stretch through the end of the week before a major temperature drop arrives over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service in Hastings.

Forecasters say Thursday and Friday will bring above-normal temperatures, with highs ranging from the low to upper 60s under partly cloudy to mostly sunny skies. Southwest winds will shift northwest Saturday as a cold front moves in, bringing gusts up to 45 mph and a slight chance for light sprinkles.

According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will fall sharply Saturday night, leading to a much cooler Sunday with highs only in the upper 30s to mid-40s. Overnight lows are expected to dip into the teens and 20s, marking one of the coldest mornings so far this fall.

The cooler air will persist into early next week before another gradual warm-up begins Monday. Despite the weekend front, dry conditions are expected overall, with no significant precipitation in the forecast.

Residents are advised to prepare for rapidly changing conditions and protect any sensitive outdoor items or plants ahead of the cold snap.
