Hastings, NE – A stormy pattern will bring rounds of thunderstorms across Nebraska beginning late Saturday and continuing through Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service in Hastings.

Forecasters said the best chance for storms late Saturday night will be in western Nebraska. Additional storm chances return Sunday afternoon through Tuesday, with the strongest activity expected Sunday evening into the night. Some storms may become severe, producing damaging winds up to 60 mph and hail up to the size of quarters.

According to the NWS, Sunday’s high temperatures will range from the low 70s to low 80s, with lows in the upper 50s to low 60s. The severe weather potential increases during the afternoon and evening hours, especially across central and eastern Nebraska.

Monday looks drier with partly sunny skies and highs climbing into the upper 70s to upper 80s. However, more thunderstorms are possible Tuesday afternoon and evening, again with the potential for strong to severe storms.

Travelers and residents are urged to monitor forecasts closely through the first half of the week, as storms could bring sudden changes in road and outdoor conditions.
